On May 7, 2025, Professor Jiun-Haw Lee from National Taiwan University was interviewed by TaiwanPlus regarding the Global Undergraduate Program in Semiconductors (GUPS). As one of Taiwan’s pioneering international semiconductor education programs, GUPS was launched by NTU’s International College to address the global demand for interdisciplinary semiconductor talent.
During the interview, Professor Lee highlighted how GUPS combines academic excellence with industry alignment, offering courses in chip design, materials, and manufacturing—entirely in English—to foster cross-cultural collaboration and global employability. The program attracts outstanding students from around the world and prepares them for careers in Taiwan’s vibrant high-tech ecosystem.
The discussion also shed light on how GUPS reflects Taiwan’s strategic role in the global semiconductor industry, and how education is key to sustaining innovation and competitiveness in this critical field.
